Betty Rossow, age 73, of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away at her residence, with her children by her side, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Hedstrom officiating.
Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Betty Jane (Johnson) Rossow, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in home hospice, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on June 21, 1950, in Windom, MN, to Harry and Lois (Oelke) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Lakefield. During her early grade school years, Betty attended Lakefield Public Schools, followed by several years at Saint Peter Lutheran School, returning to Lakefield High School, where she graduated in 1968.
On April 11, 1970, Betty was united in marriage to James (Jim) Rossow at Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Lakefield, MN. Together they raised three children, Jill, Chay, and Derek. Early on, Betty was a stay-at-home mom and helped Jim with the farming. Later, Betty owned and operated the Sears store in Lakefield, followed by several jobs over the years in the retail and healthcare fields. Betty enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, and crafting, especially doll-making, card-making and scrapbooking.
Betty is survived by her former husband, Jim; three children, Jill (Chris) Anderson of Winsted, MN; Chay Rossow of Lakefield, MN; Derek (Brandi) Rossow of Madison Lake, MN; 11 grandchildren, Hayden, Kailyn, Leyton, Karsyn, Grayson, and Rhilyn Rossow; Kailynn Strube; Jorden Rossow; and Jaiden, Jamier, and Jamal Zishka; one great-grandson, Kyrie Zishka; two sisters, Shirley Thooft and Bonnie Gyberg; two nieces Jennifer (Andrew) Ainsworth and Alisa Thooft; one nephew, Anthony (McKenzie) Thooft; several great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lois Johnson; her grandparents; and many other relatives.
Betty's family would like to thank the Avera Home Hospice staff for their wonderful care, treating Betty like part of their own family during their time with her.
