Albertha Van'thul Obituary

Albertha Van’thul, 73. Of Jackson, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.   A gathering of family and friends with be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at the Jackson National Guard Armory, from 2-3:30 p.m.  A memorial service will take place at 3:30 with Pastor Nathan Janzen and Pastor Michael Van’thul officiating. A time of visiting and refreshments will follow the memorial service. Burial will take place at 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Jackson.

Albertha “Bert” Faye Van’t Hul, daughter of Albert and Frances (Damstra) Gravenhof, was born on February 18, 1947 in Worthington, Minnesota. She grew up in rural Worthington. Bert attended Worthington Christian School through the 8th grade and graduated from Worthington High School. On December 2, 1965, Bert was united in marriage to A. Dean Van’t Hul. They lived in Worthington until 1969, when they made their home together in Jackson. Bert worked as a CNA the first couple years living in Jackson. She than worked as the bookkeeper for Stroms Clothing. In 1979, Bert became a representative in sales for Home Interiors and Gifts. In March of 1998, she was employed as a parts assembler for Technical Services for Electronics, until her retirement. Beginning in 1969, Bert was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. She served her church community with a joyful heart, adding excellence to all she put her hands to do.

Bert always used her amazing talents as a seamstress and interior decorating to bless family and friends alike. One of her favorite leisure activities was boating with her family on their boat Gerti.

Bert is survived by her sons Michael (Deena) Van’t Hul of Fuzhou, China and Steven (Theresa) Van’t Hul of Nisswa, Minnesota; grandchildren Logan of Tampa, Florida: Mitchell of Engelwod, Florida: Priscilla and Caleb of Fuzhou, China; daughter-in-law Julie Van’t Hul of Oakland, California; brother Jude (Mavis) Gravenhof of Worthington, Minnesota; sisters Shari Hopkins of Orlando, Florida and Linda (Byron) Emmert of Blaine, Minnesota; sister-in-law Judy Gravenhof of Worthington, Minnesota along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bert is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Frances, the love of her life husband Dean, eldest son Jeffrey, brother Cliff Gravenhof and brother-in-law Timothy Hopkins.
