Arthur Albert Loeschen, the son of John and Martha (Huebsch) Loeschen, was born on his parent’s farm in Ewington Township, Jackson County MN on June 3, 1930. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield, MN. He attended school at St Paul Lutheran School and also at Ewington Township School. On November 3, 1951 he was united in marriage to Gladys Gunther at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. He worked various jobs and started farming with his Father. Together, Art and Gladys took over the farm after Art’s Father passed away and worked side by side in the fields and attending to the livestock. They discontinued farming in the mid 80’s and started doing a variety of jobs including custodial and lawn mowing duties at St Paul Lutheran Church. Gladys passed away on August 3, 1987.

On June 8, 1991 Art married Linda Bassett at Fairmont, MN. They made their home in Huntley, MN. Art and Linda were custodians at St James Lutheran Church and School in Northrop, MN and Our Savior Lutheran Church at Winnebago, MN. Linda passed away on November 17, 1999. Art continued to do custodial work at the Blue Earth, MN, interstate I-90 rest stop until he retired. He moved to Lakefield in April of 2016 to be closer to family and friends, and was a current member of his home Church, St Paul Lutheran.

Throughout his life Art enjoyed many things. In his younger years he was an avid roller skater. He enjoyed fishing, sprint car races, dancing, and was always a Farmer at heart with a love of gardening and tending to his flowers. He loved to go on walks and enjoyed telling his family and friends “how many miles he had put on”, always keeping a yearly record of them. Art also enjoyed outings with his family while they were camping, enjoying the outdoors and peacefulness of sitting by a lake. As a result of declining health, he entered Colonial Manor in Lakefield, MN in March of 2021 and passed away there on December 27, 2022 at the age of 92.

Art is survived by his children, Barbara Engelkes of Sheldon, IA, Carol (Greg) Pinkerton of Iron River, WI, and Donald (Marsha) Loeschen of Okabena, MN; grandchildren, Brandon, Brandie, Angie, Danielle, Thomas, William, Mallory, Jeffery, Marque and Caydon; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; His two Sister’s, Elaine Hotzler of Sauk Rapids, MN and Luetta Kluever of Worthington, MN; brother-in-law Harlan (Vonnie) Gunther of Loveland, Co.; sister-in-law Darlene Gunther of Round Lake MN; and many nieces and nephews.
