Bonnie Fricke

Bonnie (Peterson) Fricke, age 95, of Lakefield entered into rest on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Acura HealthCare Nursing Home in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2020 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, with Reverend Phil Beukema officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield, Minnesota.

The funeral service will be live streamed on the Osterberg Funeral Home Facebook page.

Masks are required to be worn inside of the church.

Bonnie B. (Peterson) Fricke, daughter of George B. and Ruth (Bute) Peterson, was born on Saturday, August 1, 1925, in Jackson, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson. Bonnie attended Jackson schools and graduated in 1943. Upon graduation from high school, she went to the Presentation Sisters school of nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota. After finishing school, Bonnie moved back to Jackson where she worked as an LPN at the Jackson and Lakefield Hospitals, and also at a clinic in Windom. Bonnie met the love of her life Ernest Fricke, while she was caring for his mother. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1954, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. They lived in Kansas for a short time while Ernie was in the service. After Ernie was discharged from the service, they move to a farm just outside of Lakefield. They were blessed with 2 children Lori and Ernest Paul.  Bonnie became a stay at home wife and mother. Bonnie was very involved with the Immanuel church serving as a volunteer, teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School, along with taking care of the friendship register for many years. Bonnie remained living on the farm after Ernie passed away in 1992, until 1998, when she bought a house in Lakefield.  In 2019, Bonnie became a resident of Accura Healthcare Nursing home in Spirit Lake where she passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 25 days.

Bonnie was a lady of many talents and was always busy. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. In the spring and summer, Bonnie spent many hours out in her vegetable and flower gardens, and with the family dogs. She loved to bake, and faithfully baked a fresh pie, every 3 days for her husband Ernie. Bonnie was an avid watcher of the Minnesota Twins and also the Vikings. In her down time, she enjoyed reading. Bonnie also collected bells from all over the world.  Bonnie liked to travel, going to places with her family such as Disney World in Florida, Arizona, the Black Hills, northern MN and Yellowstone.  Her most memorable trip being to California with her mother via train in 1948. Bonnie loved holidays, and spending time with her family, making sure to attend all activities that they were involved in. Bonnie has left a lifetime of memories for her family to cherish, for years to come.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter Lori (Jim) Pfeifer of Milford, Iowa; grandchild Katy (fiancé CJ Gibson) Pfeifer; 2 great- grandchildren Benton and Zane; sisters-in-law Dorothy Fricke of Lakefield,  Marianne Person of Newport, Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years Ernest, infant son Ernest Paul, parents George and Ruth, sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Lowell Rasmussen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ardene and Tom Hayes,  brother-in-law Milton Fricke, and brother-in-law Ron Person.
