Bonnie Yonker Obituary

Bonnie Belle Yonker, age 91 of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at her residence in Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Union State Line Cemetery.

Bonnie Belle Yonker, daughter of Richard and Bessie Beulah (Williams) Haughland, was born on Wednesday, December 24, 1930, on the family farm in Petersburg, Minnesota. Bonnie was baptized and confirmed at the Union State Line Lutheran Church.  She attended and graduated from Petersburg School. Upon graduation Bonnie attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. On June 25, 1949, Bonnie was united in marriage to Harold (Bud) Yonker at the Union State Line Lutheran Church in Petersburg. After marriage, they lived and farmed in Enterprise Township for 10 years, and then purchased a farm in Petersburg, where they lived for 15 years. Upon Harold’s retirement in 1974, Harold, Bonnie and daughter Susan moved to Lakeland, Florida, where Susan attends a Shelter Workshop. They would come home to Petersburg to visit during the summer months. Bonnie passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at her residence in Petersburg, at the age of 91 years, and 16 days.

Bonnie enjoyed sewing and knitting. During the spring, you would find her out planting the garden, and caring for the garden all summer long. In the fall, she was busy canning the fruits of her labor. Bonnie was famous for her different jams that she made. She was a great cook, enjoyed cooking for the entire family. Bonnie and Harold enjoyed square dancing in Florida. Bonnie loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She has left behind a lifetime of memories for her family to cherish.

Bonnie is survived by her children Susan Yonker, Caryl (Paul) Nelson, Rebecca (Norlin) Gutz, and Daniel (Connie) Yonker; grandchildren Paul (Renae) Nelson, Joshua (Danielle) Nelson, Rachel (Matt) Curry, Alyssa (Travis) Dodgen, Charlie (Jen) Gutz, Sara (Mike) Groher, Kayla (Al) Preto, Emily (Joe) Horrigan, Ryan Gutz, Stephanie (Cary) Yonker-Lai, Michelle Flores, Daniel Yonker, and Dustin (Lisa) Yonker; 30 great-grandchildren, and special helpers Sarah and Herman Miller from Citrus Wood Estate Florida.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Harold, brothers Herald, Clifford, Dave, Raymond and Floyd, sister Vivian and granddaughter Angela Nelson.
