Brian Robert Mathias

Brian Mathias, age 44, of Heron Lake, Minnesota, passed away at his residence in Heron Lake, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.

Brian Robert Mathias, son of Robert and Mary (Iverson) was born on Saturday, February 26, 1977, in Windom, Minnesota. He attended elementary school in Heron Lake and graduated from Heron Lake Okabena Lakefield in 1996. In high school, Brian played football and played baseball. He worked at New Vision for 20 years and has been active in farming for most of his life. In 2015, Brian met the love of his life Amanda Schoborg, and was engaged to her in December of 2020. Brian grew up in Cottonwood County, close to Heron Lake, and later bought a home in Heron Lake, which he lived in with Amanda and their cats Ethel and Ash. Due to health complications, Brian passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 44 years and 8 months.

Brian was a very kind, quiet and caring gentleman. He loved spending time outdoors, four wheeling, hunting, and time at the lake, especially Talcott and Graham lakes. Brian enjoyed going fishing and catching the big ones.   He was a history enthusiast, and a big Minnesota Vikings fan.  Brian loved Amanda’s cooking and would tell his mother about the delicious meals she would make. Brian has left a lifetime of memories for his family and friends to cherish forever.

Brian is survived by his fiancé Amanda Schoborg; his parents Robert and Mary Mathias; sister Bridgette Mathias; grandfather Mahlon Iverson; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents John and Anna Marie Mathias, grandmother Bernadine Iverson, uncles Bill Mathias, John Mathias, Bede Mathias, Scott Mathias, and Bruce Iverson.
