Burdetta Rossow Obituary

Burdetta Elaine Rossow, age 83, of Lakefield, Minnesota entered into rest on Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom. A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield, with Pastor Andrew Schensted officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Good Samaritan Society in Windom are preferred.

Burdetta Elaine (Bailey) Rossow, daughter of Orval E. and Neoma S.M. (Hass) Bailey, was born on Thursday, August 12, 1937 in Windom, Minnesota. She attended Lakefield Public Schools and graduated in 1955. Burdetta was baptized into the Lutheran faith at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Delafield. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Burdetta was united in marriage to David Rossow on July 31, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 3 children, Nancy,  Kristine and Brad. Their marriage was dissolved.  Upon graduation, Burdetta worked as a secretary at the high school in Lakefield, before starting her career with the USDA working in the local ASC office in Lakefield. Once the kids graduated high school, she transferred to the St. Paul state office, and then to the Federal building in Washington D.C. in 1990. She was fortunate to retire in 1995 at the age of 58. In 2017, Burdetta became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Windom where she passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 8 days.

Burdetta was an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling. She bowled on a team at the Lakefield bowling alley, going to the state and national tournaments with the ladies. Burdetta was a referee for high school volleyball and some college games as well. After retirement, Burdetta took time to travel and see the world, including China, Taiwan and Hawaii.  She worked miscellaneous part-time jobs and also delivered meals-on-wheels. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Burdetta has left a lifetime of memories for her family to cherish.

Burdetta is survived by her children Nancy (Earl) Graham of Faribault, Minnesota and Brad (Angie) Rossow of Lakefield, Minnesota; grandchildren Kari (Jonathan) Blom, Josh (Jenny) Graham, and Nikki (Dan) Hachfeld; great-grandchildren Bennett and Heidi Blom, Natalie and Norah Graham, Eli, Leo, and Charlie Hachfeld; brother Gary (Deb) Baily, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Burdetta is preceded in death by her parents Orval and Neoma, daughter Kristine, siblings Rod Bailey and Patricia Hale.
