Carlyle Stender

Carlyle Emil Stender, age 88 of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, Minnesota.

A private immediate family only service was held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial took place at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield with full Military Honors. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at a later date.

Carlyle Emil Stender, son of Carl and Anna (Reder) Stender was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1933, in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, Minnesota.  He attended country school and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1951.  Carlyle enlisted into the United States in January of 1955. He was stationed in Virgina. Carlyle was united in marriage to Darlene Levell on June 28, 1953, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Carlyle and Darlene were blessed with 2 children Karla and Kerry. They made their home together in Lakefield. Carlyle spent many years farming.  In 2020, Carlyle became a resident of Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, Minnesota where he passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 22 days.

Carlyle was a historical enthusiast. He enjoyed visiting the Jackson County Historical Society in Lakefield. Carlyle enjoyed the outdoors, feeding the pheasants and watching all the wildlife.

Carlyle is survived by his wife 68 years Darlene; daughter Karla (Brad) Gartzke, son Kerry (Lisa) Stender; three grandchildren Kayla (Kyle) Vos, Nathan (Jackie) Stender and Taylar (Daniel) Deziel; 8 great grandchildren; brother Willis Stender; sister-in-law Nancy Hansen, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carlyle is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Anna, sisters Gilda Burmeister and Dorothy Dugstad, brothers Alvin Stender and Norman Stender.
