Connie Yonker Obituary

Connie Yonker, age 67 of Jackson, Minnesota passed away, with her family by her side on Friday, September 16, 2022. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Union State Line Cemetery in Superior, Iowa.

Connie Lucille (Anderson) Yonker, daughter of Lloyd and Lucille Anderson, was born on Thursday, September 30, 1954, in Estherville, Iowa. Connie was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She attended and graduated from public school in Ayrshire, Iowa.  Upon graduation Connie attended Iowa Lakes Community College, obtaining her medical secretary degree. Connie was a special education paraprofessional at Jackson Elementary School for many years. She later received her bachelor’s degree in education at Buena Vista University. Connie taught Special Education in Southwest Iowa for ten years before she retired in June of 2020. In addition to education, Connie also helped out on the farm driving machinery and hauling pigs.  Connie met the love of her life and her forever partner, Daniel Yonker, while roller skating in 1972. Daniel and Connie were united in marriage on June 30, 1974, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Their union was blessed with 4 children, Stephanie, Michelle, Daniel, and Dustin. They resided on one of the family farms in Petersburg, Minnesota for 17 years before they moved into town in Jackson. Connie was a member of Union State Line church, where she was active as a youth leader, and played her guitar for church services and programs. Connie passed away peacefully, at her residence, with her family by her side on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 16 days.

Connie was a very compassionate woman. She was very active in Jackson Special Olympics. She thrived on sharing her spirituality with others. Connie loved being outdoors, from riding her bike through the trails in Okoboji, riding Rag Brai, camping, attending concerts on the green space, and attending shows at the Lakes Pearson Art Center. Connie was very passionate about her family. Her and the family traveled to Mexico and Brazil. Connie looked forward to the holidays with family in Mexico.

Connie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Daniel; children, Stephanie (Cary) Yonker-Lai of Redwood City, California, Michelle Flores of Papillion, Nebraska, Dustin (Lisa) Yonker of Fargo, North Dakota, and Daniel Yonker of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren Taliyah Flores, Serena and Mila Lai, and Cameron and Jacob Yonker; and a twin brother Garwin Anderson.

Connie was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Anderson, father and mother in-law Harold and Bonnie Yonker.
