Daniel Daberkow

Dan Daberkow, age 62, of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in rural Lakefield.  Visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Pastor Phil Beukema officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Daniel Paul Daberkow, son of Clyde Daberkow and Marilyn Meade, was born on Monday, May 9, 1960, in Heron Lake, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Dan attended Lakefield schools and graduated in 1978. He worked a variety of jobs. Right out of high school Dan worked at Great Plaines in Lakefield doing prefab wood basements, until it closed. He then worked with Leroy Weinzetl doing construction for Winters Construction based out of Pipestone for many years. Dan also worked construction for Rients and Sons, and with his brother Tim at Tim Daberkow Construction, LLC. Between construction jobs, he helped on the family farm. The last few years, Dan was farmhand, and handyman for Brad Kolander. On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Daniel passed away unexpectedly in rural Lakefield, at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 20 days.

Dan loved being outdoors, with his best friend Odie always right by his side.  During the summer months he spent many hours out in his garden and would be busy canning his harvest in the fall, making salsa, refrigerator pickles, and freezer corn.  Dan liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Dan loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone that has been a part of his life.  

Dan is survived by his best friend Odie; parents Clyde (Juanita) Daberkow, and Marilyn Price Meade; brothers Doug Daberkow of Sherburn and Tim (Sonya) Daberkow of Lakefield; sisters Debra (Lenny) Wright of Minneapolis, Angie (Dean) Erickson of Monticello and Shannon Daberkow of Jackson; nieces and nephews: William Wright, Ashley (Derek) Olson, Alison Richards, Amanda Daberkow, Anthony Daberkow, Thomas Daberkow, Nicholas Daberkow, Kadence Daberkow, Karissa Daberkow, and Nathan Daberkow; special friends Stacey Welp and her family, and Brad Kolander and his family; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends.

Dan is preceded in death by his grandparents and niece Shelby Woizeschke.
