Delores Olson

Delores Olson, 90 of Windom, Minnesota entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Windom Area Hospital. A private family service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, with Pastor Sarah Tade officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Lutheran Church.

Delores Joan (Vernone) Olson, daughter of Jack and Marie (Sigurdson) Vernone was born on August 13, 1929 in St. James, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran church in St. James. Delores attended and graduated from St. James schools. After high school, she moved to Rochester, Minnesota and attended cosmetology school where she obtained her cosmetology certificate. Delores was united in marriage to her life partner Arnold Olson on March 13, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in St. James. Arnold and Delores lived in St. James for 1 year, before moving to Windom and making their forever home together. They were blessed with 5 children. Delores worked at various businesses doing secretarial work, a cook at the high school, and the deputy registrar's office. She retired in 1991. Delores was a member of the local Red Hat Ladies. Delores entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 15 days.

Delores was a very outgoing lady. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross stitching and crocheting. Delores was quite the bowler for many years, and also liked to play a round of golf. Arnold and Delores would go out dancing at the country club. Delores liked to do her crossword puzzles and play card games. A few of her favorites to play were cribbage, gin rummy and kings' corners. During the winter months Arnold and Delores would spend time at their home in Mission, Texas. While in Texas, Delores would lead water aerobics class. Delores liked to make people laugh. She looked forward to the weekly Thursday morning coffee group that she was in. Delores was a kindhearted, loving mother. She always made sure that her family was taken care of. Delores has left a lifetime of memories for her family and friends to cherish.

Delores is survived by her sons Lew Olson of Windom, Minnesota, and Jeffrey (Katie Koester) Olson of Burnsville, Minnesota; daughters Audrey (Gregg) Glidden of Crystal, Minnesota, and Connie (Dean) Larsen of Dennison, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Delores is preceded in death by her husband of 65-years Arnold, her parents Jack and Marie, her son Jay Olson, her brother Merle, and sister Betty.
