Donald "Don" Voehl

Donald “Don” Voehl, age 66, of Lakefield, passed away with family by his side on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, July, 24, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter Township, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, with Pastor Dale Hedstrom officiating. Military Honors will follow outside of the church.

Don was born on October 7th, 1956, to Harry and Lois (Kolander) Voehl in Worthington. Don was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lakefield, and was a current member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  He attended Rost Christian School through 8th grade, and graduated Class of 1974 from Lakefield High School.

Following high school, Don served in the Army and Air National Guards. He was honorably discharged when his father, Harry, passed away to return home to farm. He spent his lifetime farming along with numerous seasonal jobs.

He married his wife Diane (Garoutte) Voehl on October 6th, 1984. They were blessed with two daughters, Jacoba and Betsy.

Don enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, and camping.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a great friend to many people, neighbors, and fellow Hobo Park campers.  Don will be intensely missed by many.

Don is survived by his wife Diane Voehl; daughters Jacoba Voehl, and Betsy (Kirk) McBreen; four grandchildren, Lydia, Lena, Lola, and Kameron; mother Lois Voehl; brother Thomas (Marilyn) Voehl; sister Elizabeth (Doyle) Zellar; along with numerous family members and great friends.

Don was predeceased by his father Harry Voehl and brother Rev. Robert Voehl.
