Obituary

Donna Voss, age 94 of Lakefield, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Valley View Assisted Living in Lakefield. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota. Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Adam Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be held following service at Sioux Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Sioux Valley American Legion Auxiliary or Trinity Lutheran Church, Sioux Valley.

Donna Jean (Ihnen) Voss was born on August 15, 1928, to Raymond and Gertrude (Stahl) Ihnen in Osceola County, Iowa.  Donna was confirmed at Sioux Valley Trinity Lutheran Church. In childhood, Donna lived with her parents on the farm in Harris, Iowa and in 1942 they moved to a farm in Sioux Valley where Donna graduated with the Sioux Valley class of 1946.

On August 19, 1947, Donna was united in marriage to John L. Voss in Worthington, Minnesota. They farmed in Sioux Valley Township. Donna and John enjoyed dances at the Sioux Valley Log Cabin. John passed away May 3, 1995, and Donna remained on the farm until 2009, when she moved to Jackson. Donna entered Valley View Assisted Living in February 2022, where she remained until her passing on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Donna was a life-long member of Sioux Valley Trinity Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, Bible School, serving on Trinity LWML and sewing quilts. Donna was very active in the Sioux Valley Legion Auxiliary, serving in every office and living in Jackson she volunteered and worked with the Jackson Food Shelf. Donna was a homemaker and a wonderful cook for her family and was always making homemade goodies to share with family, friends, and the community. The coffee pot was always on in Donna’s kitchen with a plate of warm goodies.  On the farm and in town Donna loved beautiful flower gardens and making crafts.

Donna loved her family and holiday gatherings and her most precious times were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their events and activities.

Donna was a kind, generous person and will be greatly missed.

Donna is survived by her sons: Bernard (Linda) Voss, Bennett Voss, Bernell (Cheryl) Voss, John Jr. (Carla) Voss, and Jerry Voss; daughters: Barbara (Mark) Spaeth, Becky (Wayne) Webster, Bonnie (Roger) Puck, and Bette (Brett) Harmening; sister Shirley Wiese; sister-in-law Violet Ihnen; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband John L. Voss,  daughter Brenda Voss, daughter-in-law Karen Voss, parents Raymond and Gertrude Ihnen; brother Darold Ihnen, twin brother Donald Ihnen, brother-in-law Delbert Wiese, father and mother in law, August and Bertha Voss, brothers and sisters in law, Lloyd and Marie (Winkel) Voss, Harry and Lillian Weinandt, Abner and Luella Brandt, James and Ruth Voss, and Eugene and Sharon Voss.
