Dorothy Fricke, 93 of Lakefield, Minnesota entered in to rest on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, with Pastor John Schuetz officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield, Minnesota.

Dorothy Alice (Rentschler) Fricke, daughter of George and Ruth (Meister) Rentschler, was born on Thursday, September 1, 1927 on the family farm in Rost Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at St Paul Lutheran Church of Rost Township. She attended parochial grade school at St Paul Lutheran, graduated high school from Lakefield in 1945, and attended Mankato Teachers College, graduating in 1947. She taught for several years both in public and parochial schools. On June 27, 1948 Dorothy married Milton Fricke at St Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township. Together they made a life on the Fricke farm in Hunter township, Jackson County, Minnesota. Dorothy also worked part time several years at The Home Store and at various office jobs. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and ladies aid, and also maintained the baptismal cradle roll for many years. Dorothy actively served on the Ambulance, Hospital, and Colonial Manor auxiliary boards. Dorothy and Milton were baptismal sponsors for many children over the years. On January 16, 2021 Dorothy returned to her Lord and Savior at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 15 days.
Dorothy was an avid baker, her oven was continuously on baking breads, cookies, pies, cakes, and always the noon meal for the men in the fields. Dorothy participated in the Relay for Life, having been a breast cancer survivor herself, she enjoyed being part of the local events. Dorothy took pride in entering her baked goods and sewing projects at the Jackson County Fair. She enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors in the community.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Katherine (Tom) Becken of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; her brother Bill (Dianne) Rentschler of Powell, Wyoming; her sister in-law Marianne Person of New Port, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Milton; her parents George and Ruth; her sister and brother in-law Isabelle and Clarence Rhode; her brother and sister in-law David and Patricia Rentschler; and her in-laws Ardene and Tom Hayes, Ernest and Bonnie Fricke, and Ron Person.
