Douglas Place

Douglas Place, age 66, of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023. A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred,  to purchase a bench to place on the Jackson Walking Path in Doug's Honor, and also to the Ronald McDonald House.

Douglas Scott Place, son of Harlan and Evonne (Lev) Place, was born on Friday, November 30, 1956, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Lakefield. Doug attended and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1975.  He grew up in Lakefield, and later moved to Jackson. Doug was blessed with one son Jason. He retired from AGCO in Jackson, where he worked for the past 45 years, as a material handler and a supervisor. On Sunday, September 3, 2023, Douglas passed away, at the age of 66 years, 9 months, and 3 days.

Doug was a very outgoing gentleman. He was a member of the Jackson Golf Club, where enjoyed going out golfing with the boys: Jim Wohlers, the late Rick Nesmoe and the late Randy Polz. Doug was in a bowling league in Lakefield, and bowled a perfect 300 game. He was an avid sports fan, paying special attention to his fantasy football teams.  Doug liked taking trips to the surrounding casinos, trying his luck, took various trips to Vegas, and playing Bingo at the Legion in Jackson on Wednesday evening. Doug always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by his family, fellow co-workers, and great friends.

Douglas is survived by his son Jason Place of Worthington; Mother Evonne Place of Lakefield; brothers Greg (Gayla) Place of Spirit Lake, and Todd (Becky) Place of Lakefield; sister Lisa (Michelle) Place of Spirit Lake; along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and great friends.

Douglas is preceded in death by his father Harlan Place, and brother Randy Place.
