Dwaine Hanson, age 72, of Lakefield, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. A visitation will be held from 5-7 on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield. A family Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, with Pastor Jeanette McCormick officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Osterberg Funeral Home Facebook page.

Dwaine Allen Hanson, son of Donald and Edith (Ackermann) Hanson was born on Thursday, July 19, 1951, in Heron Lake, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. Dwaine graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1969 where he was active in sports, lettering in football, basketball, and track. After high school he attended Jackson Technical school where he studied auto mechanics.
On July 31, 1972, Dwaine married Rebecca Pavelko and was blessed with three daughters, Heather, Heidi, and Haily. Dwaine would later marry Tami Kuchel and would welcome her two children, Aaron, and Jamie.
Dwaine worked various jobs as young man, building water towers, farming, and working as service manager for various businesses. He would retire in 2018 after working the majority of his career at Graham Tire in Worthington, Minnesota. Dwaine stayed busy in retirement, farming with Jerry Ackerman.
Over the last 6 weeks, Dwaine encountered many health setbacks. On Thursday, October 12, 2023, Dwaine passed away peacefully, with family by his side at the age of 72.
Dwaine was described by his family and friends as loving, compassionate, supportive, and humble. He was always there for his family and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Dwaine had a passion and love for racing the lasted from his teenage years until his passing. He raced for over 50 years, with his last race being August 18, 2023. Dwaine was a Jackson Nationals Champion and featured in several racing publications. When he was not at work, or busy working on his racecar, you could find Dwaine tinkering on the farm. He loved his family as well as attending parades, rodeos, trips to the sale barn, being a member of the Lakefield Saddle Club, and watching his grandkids sporting events. Dwaine loved going on vacation to Disneyworld with Tami. He had a passion for Christmas decorating and lights, always making sure that he had a wonderful light display for him and his family to enjoy. Dwaine will be greatly missed by his family, close friends and anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Left to cherish the memories of Dwaine are his wife of 25 years Tami; daughters: Heather Carson, Heidi (Troy) Schultz and Haily (Cole) Dixon; stepchildren: Jamie Malloy, Aaron (Jerica) Stickney and bonus son Brady (Nicole) Joynt; 17 grandchildren; brother Doug (Joni) Hanson; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and great friends.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Edith, his grandparents, and other relatives.
