Eleanor Hutchinson Obituary

Eleanor Jane Hutchinson lived her life with love as her guiding principle: love of God, family, and her fellow man. Eleanor died July 6, 2020 at the age of 95.

Eleanor spent her childhood in Marshall, MN and attended Winona Teacher's College. Her first job was teaching second grade in Jackson, MN, and she spent her life there. She was married to Jack Hutchinson for 62 years, until his death. They raised 4 children in Jackson: Dave, Thom, Bill, and Mary Jane.

Eleanor put her faith into action by sharing of herself and her musical gifts. She played piano and organ and provided music for multiple weddings, funerals, and other occasions. The church was very important to her and she played many roles in her church over the years, not the least of which was organist at First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. Eleanor was also active in the Jackson community where she established the FAST food shelf, taught English to local immigrants, and was an active volunteer.

Eleanor was deeply loved and admired by her family. Happy memories of travels, fishing trips, golfing, playing cards, and much laughter will keep her alive in our hearts. She will be deeply missed.

Words are inadequate to say thank you to the staff of Ecumen Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN for their loving care of Eleanor. She was treated with such kindness, dignity, respect and joy.

Eleanor is survived by her sister Phyllis Paulsen of Hutchinson, MN; her children: David (Sara),Roseville, MN; Thom (Susanne), Bellevue, WA; Bill (Loy), Bainbridge Island, WA; and Mary Jane (Randy) Petersen, Eagle Lake, MN; her 14 grandchildren: Justin, Solomon, Liz, Sarah, Katie, Jill, Jonathan, Christopher, Owete, Matthew, Joseph, Ellie, Drew and Erica Jane; and her 13 great-grandchildren: Parker, Bailey, Finn, Kaia, Gabriel, Collette, Josephine, Vivienne, Lucia, Marcos, Cameron, Clara, and Emilia Jane.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, Wesley and Mavis Kugler, and two brothers, Bob and Buddy (John).

For the safety of all in these unprecedented times, a private family service is planned. Memorials preferred to Jackson Food Shelf, Community Homes (PO Box 1240, Bothell, WA, 98041-1240), and Jackson County Library System. Mail will be received by the family c/o Osterberg Funeral Homes, Jackson, MN.
