Esther May (Hass) Allen daughter of Henry Hass and Martha (Mabel) Gunther, was born on June 11, 1919, in Heron Lake Township, Lakefield, Minnesota.  Esther was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. As a child, she attended country school District 112, and graduated from Lakefield Public High School in 1937. Upon graduation, Esther remained at home to help her father Henry farm. On December 24, 1939, Esther was united in marriage to Raymond Allen. To this union five children were born, Milton, Dennis, Leila, Loris, and Loreli. Esther was a member of Union State Line Church in Petersburg, where she was active in church with teaching Sunday School and holding churching offices. Esther was employed at Naturals Floral and Greenhouse in Jackson, Minnesota for 10 years. Her main focus was raising their five children. Esther became a resident of Colonial Nursing Home in Lakefield, in 2016, where she passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 101 years and 101 days.

Esther enjoyed working in her flower garden and her vegetable garden. The flowers that she grew where used in the floral arrangements at Naturals Floral.  Esther tended a big garden, from which she harvested and canned. Esther became a very good cook, with having to prepare meals for Ray and herself, along with their 5 children. She could always put together something good to eat.  If you were a guest in their home, you were invited to share a meal with them.  Esther always had goodies to eat for the children when they came home from school.  Esther also enjoyed sewing and stitchery.

Esther is survived by her children: Milton (Sara) Allen of Cambridge City, Indiana; Leila (Ron) Johannesen of Swea City, Iowa and Loreli Allen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota: grandchildren Scott Allen, Juanita Allen, Michael Allen, Henry Allen, Analia Cornett, Laura Allen, Christie Anderson, Robert Allen, Michael Schmidt and Matthew Schmidt;  great-grandchildren Scott Allen Jr., Olivia Schmidt, Lillian Schmidt, Liam Schmidt, Kale Schmidt, Linus Schmidt, and Marigold Schmidt, Boyd Cornett;  great-great grandchild Brennan Allen; sister-in-law Ruby Grathwohl, daughter-in-law Catherine Allen;  along with many other extended family members.
