Eugene Trosine Obituary

Eugene (Gene) Trosine, age 82 of Jackson, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Gathering Church in Bingham Lake, Minnesota will Reverend Doctor Martin Lucin and Pastor Randy Shideler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield, following the service with Military Honors performed by Jackson American Legion Post #130.

Eugene (Gene) Lyle Trosine, son of Martin and Vivian (Brown) Trosin, was born on Thursday, November 2, 1939, in rural Lakefield, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Gene graduated from Sherburn High School in 1958. Upon graduation, he entered into the United States Navy on June 25, 1958. Gene proudly served and was honorably discharged in June of 1962. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Hanson in 1963 in Dunnell. They were blessed with 3 children Kevin, Michelle, and Jason. They later divorced. Gene held a variety of jobs upon returning from the Navy. He worked for 1 year at the Estherville Millworks, then at Hagers Millworks Manufacturing in Mankato. Gene started at the Jackson Millworks in 1964 until 1980, when he began his own business doing cabinet and carpentry work for individuals. In February 1987, he worked at the Good Samaritan Home in the maintenance department. Gene took over as acting supervisor from 1990 to 2001, when he retired. Gene continued to do cabinet and carpentry for other people. Gene married Karin Gazda in 1997. They enjoyed their love of gardening and many fun trips to the Amish colonies. They divorced within the last few years. Gene joined his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 16 days.

Gene was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings, the Twins and Gonzaga Mens College Basketball team. Gene enjoyed joining the coffee group for a good cup of coffee and some words of wisdom shared amongst the gentlemen. He also liked going out and playing an occasional round of golf. Above all, Gene loved spending time with his family. He has left a lifetime of memories for his family and friends to cherish.

Gene is survived by his children Kevin (Carolyn) Trosine of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Michelle Scheepstra of Jackson, Minnesota, and Jason (Amy) Trosine of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren Lucas, Logan, Cortney, Seth, Brenner, Brielle, Noah, and Katelyn; brothers Larry (Pam) Trosin, Gary (Diane) Trosin, Butch (Ruth) Trosin and Kenny Trosin; sisters Linda (Gene) Takkunen, Janet (Dick) Erdmann, Anne Studer, Carol Bretzman, along with numerous other relatives and great friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Vivian, brothers Wilbur Trosin and Donald Trosin, sisters Marion Thompson and Esther Trosin.
