Eva Zishka

Eva Zishka, age 95, of Lakefield, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield. Burial will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lakefield.

Eva Margaret Zishka, daughter of Paul and Emily Kauf, was born on Saturday, May 1, 1926, in Jackson, Minnesota. Eva was raised in Jackson along with her four siblings. She attended and graduated from Jackson High School. On May 1, 1946, Eva was united in marriage to Marvin Zishka at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson, Minnesota. They made their forever home in Lakefield, Minnesota where they raised their three children, David, Allan, and Kay. Eva worked alongside her husband Marvin at Zippy Distributing and would later retire by his side. Eva passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the age of 95 years, 4 months, and 28 days.

Eva was a spirited woman who loved her family and friends fiercely. Together, Eva and Marvin enjoyed travelling and gambling across the United States. She was a skilled bowler and participated in many tournaments, both near and far. Eva loved gardening and worked with the local flower shop for many years, where she grew and preserved flowers for them. She loved playing card games and was known as the “Hand and Foot” queen.  Eva was also an amazing quilter and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Eva cherished each and every moment that she spent with her family.

Eva will forever be loved and deeply missed by her children David (Gail) Zishka of Lakefield, Minnesota, Allan (Suzann) Zishka of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Kay Zishka of Shoreview, Minnesota; her grandchildren Ben, Brandi, Belan, Brock, and Amy; 13 great-grandchildren, and a soon to be great-great grandchild; brother Edwin Kauf, sister in-law Jan Kauf, and brother in-law Tom Brooks.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, parents, brother Walter, sister Katie, sister and brother in-law Ruth and Bob Maras, and sister in-law Diane.
