Galen Henrichs, age 73, of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, with Pastor Lance Isaacson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, immediately following the service.

Galen George Henrichs was born on November 3, 1948, to Jeanette (Aden) and Dean Henrichs on a farm north of Jackson, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. He attended District # 1 country school through the 6th grade and graduated from Jackson High School in 1967.
Galen was drafted in 1969 by the US Army to Fort Lewis, Washington where he was discharged after a short time for medical and physical reasons.
After being discharged he enrolled at the Owatonna Vocational School in Owatonna, Minnesota for cooking. His love for cooking begin at The Owatonna Inn in Owatonna, to the Redwood Café in Fairmont, Minnesota, to the Best Western in Jackson, Minnesota.
When his cooking career ended at the Best Western he worked at the Jackson County Day Activity Center (DAC) in Lakefield until his retirement in 2013.
Galen passed away at the Sanford USD Medical Center on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the age of 73 after 6 weeks in the hospital due to complications from hernia surgery on Monday, January 3.
After retirement his greatest satisfaction was camping with his camping friends at the Round Lake Campground every weekend during the spring, summer, and fall and reflecting on the fond memories of his DAC days of attending the MN State Fair, Clay County Fair, and Jackson Farm & Home Show.
Galen had lived at the High Rise Apartments in Jackson since November of 1996.
Galen is survived by his brother Dennis of Jackson and Dennis’s two daughters from Minneapolis. Lisa Henrichs (Schenk), husband Kevin, son Emerson, and daughter Eastyn and Sonya Henrichs (Carlson), husband Brian, son Cooper, son Finley, and daughter Sullivan.
Galen is preceded in death by his parents Jeanette and Dean, grandparents, George and Wilhelmina (Saathoff) Aden and George and Tena (Rickers) Henrichs.
