Gerald “Jerry” Anderson, age 72, of Sherburn, formerly of Jackson, passed away peacefully, with family by his side on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson.
Gerald T. “Jerry” Anderson, died peacefully, surrounded by his sisters on July 25, 2023, at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn.
Jerry was born on February 8, 1951, to Loren “Andy” and Marie Anderson, in Jackson, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Jackson High School in 1970.
Jerry was a sportsman, especially enjoying canoeing, fishing, walking, tennis, golf, and playing pool. He loved the outdoors, camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters frequently. While living in Duluth he was a white-water canoe instructor and guide. He also loved singing, playing his guitar, and performing karaoke. He wrote poetry and composed his own songs. Jerry had many other skills as well, including woodworking, and the ability to fix almost everything. Jerry worked on the cargo ships sailing out of Chicago, before moving to Duluth. Upon his return to Jackson, he worked at Bob’s Fleet, where he was known for his great service to the ag community.
Jerry is survived by sisters Marcia Thompson, Kathleen “Kate” Heligas, Jean (Norlyn) Stowell, Rosemary (Doug) Kodet, and Pat (Dan) Little; brothers Lon Anderson and Richard Anderson, sister-in-law Diane, three stepsons Chris, Craig, and Corey Anderson, and also by several nieces, nephews, and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jo, his parents, brother Bert “Andy”, three brothers-in-law John Thompson, Leo Heligas, Donald “Buster” Lamack, sister-in-law Nancy Anderson, and niece Laura Ann Lamack.
