Harriet Clark Obituary

Harriet Anna (Ambrose) Clark, 83, of Alpha, MN, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will take place at 10:30 AM on April 10, 2021 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Those attending the service are asked to be mindful in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by wear masks, and practicing social distancing. Those unable to attend may find a livestream of the service on the Osterberg Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Burial services to be planned at a later date in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery of Jackson, MN. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harriet’s name to the Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Harriet was born on July 20, 1937 in Jackson, MN to Frank and Anna Ambrose. She spent her childhood growing up on a family farm in Petersburg Township along with her two brothers and one sister. Harriet received her education in the rural schools of Jackson County. Throughout her life, Harriet was a member of the Catholic Church in Jackson, attending St. Wenceslaus and The Good Shepard.

On June 30, 1955 Harriet was united in marriage to James Robert Clark. After their marriage they initially resided in Jackson until relocating to Alpha, where they made a family home and raised their four children together. Harriet was employed at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jackson as a Nurse’s Aide for nearly fifty years, where she was known for her dedication and compassion.  

In her free time, Harriet enjoyed being with her family, her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and attending a variety of events with family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, shopping, bowling, reading, and puzzle books. One of Harriet’s special talents was playing the accordion, a skill she learned while recovering from a severe burn accident as a child.

Survivors include her son, Curt Clark (Diane Pervin) of Lake City, MN; her daughters, Tammy (David) Doppenberg of Alpha, MN, and Becky (John) Lanz of Sherburn, MN; brothers Frank (Mary) Ambrose of Windom, MN and Tom (Mary) Ambrose of McKinney, TX; and her sister Theresa “Bonnie” (Eugene) Swanson of Alpha, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Clark; her parents, Frank and Anna Ambrose; and her daughter Jean Turner.
