Irene Anne Ensrud

Irene Ensrud, age 82 of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 4, 2022, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Blue Earth.

Irene Anne Ensrud, daughter of Bruce and Hazel (Simpson) Morehouse, was born on Friday, January 5, 1940, in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Baptist Church in Montevideo. Irene attended and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1957. Upon graduation she moved to Mankato, where she attended Mankato State University, obtaining her Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in psychology. Irene met the love of her life Owen in college. The couple was united in marriage in July 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Montevideo. They were blessed with one son Erik. Irene and Owen lived in Mapleton for a couple years before moving to Jackson in 1968, where they made their forever home together. Irene taught piano lessons out of the home and worked for many years as a Counselor at the counseling center in Fairmont. Irene was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and also attended in Windom and Fairmont. Irene passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

Irene was a caring and compassionate lady. She had a love for music, especially the piano. Irene had quite the postcard collection, dating back to 100 plus years. Irene enjoyed flowers, with her favorite being lilacs. Irene was active in her church life, leading bible study in multiple locations. Above all, Irene was very passionate about helping others. She was always willing to make time to listen and visit with individuals who needed her. Irene has left a lifetime of memories for her family and friends to cherish.

Irene is survived by her husband Owen; her son Erik (Angela) Ensrud, along with other family members.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Hazel, her grandparents and sister Mildred Morehouse.
