Joseph “Joe” Bennie Schroeder, son of Bennie and Rosebud (Beasley) Schroeder, was born on Friday, March 4, 1960, in Jackson, Minnesota. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Joe attended Jackson schools through the 11th grade and completed his GED in 1982. He worked a variety of places as a laborer at AgCo in Jackson, GKN in Estherville, concrete work in Texas, and helped in various hog barns in the area. Joe retired due to a work injury. Joe was blessed with 2 children Ben and Nichole. On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Joe passed away at the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 29 days.

Joe was an avid fisherman and loved to fish.  He knew how to bring in the walleyes even if you were fishing 2 hours, he would show up and within 10 minutes, he would have a fish. Joe taught his son Ben how to catch the big fish.  He was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan, and faithfully watch every game, with a cocktail in his hand. Joe enjoyed playing cribbage. He loved to stop at rummage sales just in case there was fishing stuff for sale. He had quite the collection of old Coleman lanterns and vintage fishing lures. Joe enjoyed taking trips to Bemidji, and spending time with family and friends. As a teenager he looked forward to going to the Jackson races and the swimming hole with his friends. Joe and his sister Chris called each other grandma and grandpa never by their names. Above all things, Joe loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and step grandchildren when he could. Family and friends were very important in his life. Joe’s beautiful smile will be missed by so many families and friends. As this is not goodbye, it is “Until we meet again.” May you fly high and enjoy your fishing adventures in heaven.

Left to cherish the memories of Joe are his son Ben (Kari) Schroeder of Willmar; daughter Nichole Schroeder of Louisiana; girlfriend Sheila Vinyard of Ceylon; grandchildren Braden Hawkinson, Dakota Black, Logan Schroeder and Avory Roberts; sisters Chris Griffin, Margie (Jim) Nelson, Donna (Cochi) Gamboa; nieces and nephews, Greg, Angel, Tracey, Jessica, Melissa, Tom, Manny, Yolanda and Noami; stepdaughter Leann Cuppy Egel; stepson Troy Rink; step grandchildren Paislee, Arianna and Jaxon; along with numerous extended cousins and relatives.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Rosebud.

Blessed be the memory of Joseph Bennie Schroeder.
