Obituary

Josephine Printy, Peterson, Salthe, age 85 of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Janzen officiating. Burial will follow at the Rice Lake Cemetery in Wells, Minnesota.

The Celebration of Life service will be live streamed on the First Baptist Church Jackson Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Society in Jackson in Josephine’s honor.

Josephine Marilyn Marie Salthe, daughter of Alvin and Paulina (Heuer) Printy, was born on Friday, September 17, 1937, in Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. She attended school thru the 4th grade in Jackson, 5th- thru 9th grade in Mystic, Iowa, and graduated from Centerville High School in 1956. Throughout Josephine’s life she worked a variety of jobs, from waitressing at Thompson Café, clerk at Ben Franklin and Chozen’s Clothing Store, cooking at Hardee’s, running her own day-care, and volunteering at Riverside Elementary. On July 1, 1965, Josephine was united in marriage to Nathaniel R. Peterson in Nashua, Iowa. This union was blessed with one daughter Naomi and 5 stepchildren. On August 25, 1991, she married Norman Salthe. She gained 2 stepchildren from this union. Josephine was a member of Assembly of God and Hilltop Community Church and currently a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.  In 2021, Josephine became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, where she passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 17 days.

Josephine was a wonderful baker, known best for her cream cheese mints, and fresh baked buns. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, mending, and embroidery. She embroidered many pillowcases for others. Josephine’s smile, laugh and kind heart will be greatly missed by her family and all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Josephine is survived by her daughter Naomi Peterson of Jackson, MN; sisters: Janet Kennedy of Dodgeville, WI, Rosalie (Wilfred) Priest of Gulford, ME, Annetta (Gary) Baugh of Hawley, TX and Wanita Printy-Zika of Council Bluffs, IA; 5 stepchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends.

Josephine is preceded in death by her husbands Nathaniel R. Peterson and Norman Salthe, parents Alvin and Paulina, sisters Bernice Baugh-Snyder and Paulina DiBella, and brother Melvin W. Printy and 2 stepchildren.
