Juanita Thelma Wachal

Juanita Thelma Wachal, age 97, of Jackson, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, Minnesota.  

A private family funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020.  

Juanita Thelma (Foster) Wachal, daughter of Charles and Nellie (Olson) Foster, was born on Sunday, September 16, 1923 in Petersburg Township, Minnesota. Juanita attended grade school in Petersburg and graduated from Estherville Public School in 1942. She was baptized and confirmed at Union State Line Church in Petersburg, Minnesota. Juanita married Robert B. Wachal on September 16, 1944 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church parsonage in Jackson, Minnesota. Together they raised four children in Jackson, Minnesota. Juanita attended Iowa Lakes Community College for nursing and graduated in 1969. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at the Jackson Municipal Hospital, Jackson Good Samaritan Nursing Home and Trimont Nursing Home. Juanita and Robert moved into Jackson in 1971, they were mem _bers of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where Juanita was active in Circle and Ladies Aid. In 2012, Juanita moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home of Jackson and in 2017 she moved to the Good Samaritan of Windom where she passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 97 years, 3 months, and 8 days.

 Juanita was a very caring, hardworking, and wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her loved ones.

Juanita had the best sense of humor and could be found socializing and sharing her stories with her friends and family. Over the years Juanita spent time crocheting, gardening, canning, and crafting many projects. She was honored at the county fair as the Jackson County Homemaker of the Year.

Juanita is survived by her four children: Mark (Sandee) Wachal of Camano Island, Washington; Nancy (Cal) Vander Kooi of Mesa, Arizona; Jeffery (Heather) Wachal of Jackson, Minnesota; and Diane Schile of Milton, Florida; her grandchildren: Amber, Alicia, Dawn (Mike), Rob (Tracy), Victoria, Holly, Josh and Courtney, her great grandchildren: Zachary, Nathaniel, Logan, Christina, Michelle, Boyd, Ashley, Amanda, Henry, Preston, Orion, and Emma; her great-great- grandchildren: Audree, Anders, Tobias, Sabina, and Noxx.

 Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Charles and Nellie Foster; her six sisters: Gladys Larson, Neva Ringkob, Ardelle Shaffer, Eleanor Synstelien, Verna Winter, and Mildred Foster; her five brothers: Glenn Foster, Buell Foster, Gaylord Foster, Delmer Foster, and Clifford Foster.
