Linda Mary Tufvesson passed away on October 6, 2022, at her home in Gillette, WY. Linda was born on January 2, 1949, to Neil and Mary (Schmitt) Tufvesson. She grew up in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1967.
Linda attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She received her degree in Physical Education. She then attended the University of Arizona and received a master’s degree in education.
Linda started her career teaching at Black Hills State University and then went on to the University of Wyoming. In 1976, she started teaching at the Campbell County School District in Gillette, WY. During her summers she enjoyed working in northern Minnesota at Camp Tamahay near Akeley instructing campers in horseback riding and water sport activities. Linda retired in 2006 after 30 years of teaching in Gillette.
In her retirement, Linda volunteered with many organizations that dealt with dogs. She taught classes in dog obedience and dog sports such as agility, rally, freestyle, and nose / scent work. Linda also entered her dogs in competitions and won numerous ribbons and awards. She volunteered at the Fur Kids Foundation that provides education and aid to promote the wellbeing of families with animals in Campbell County.
Linda also spent time in Minnesota visiting mom and other family members. She was an avid sports fan and followed all the Minnesota sports teams closely.
Linda is survived by her brothers Rick (Kris), Dave (Cindy), Pete (Mary), nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, and an aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bobby, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Linda was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
