Lorna Nielsen

Lorna Nielsen, age 84, of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday, at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor John Schuetz officiating. Burial will be held at Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in Trimont.

Lorna Mae Nielsen, daughter of Mabel Anna Meta Kramer, was born on Friday, February 17, 1939, in the Village of Mountain Lake. She attended and graduated from Trimont High School. Lorna attended vocational school in Jackson, earning her Secretarial degree. Throughout Lorna’s life, she lived in Petersburg, Marshall, Lynd, and Welcome, before placing her roots in Jackson.  On December 19, 1958, Lorna was united in marriage to Kenneth Nielsen in Monterey, Minnesota. They were blessed with 3 children Mike, Brad, and Sheryl. Lorna worked at Bank Midwest in Jackson, Farmer’s and Merchants Bank in Alpha, and took tickets at the Jackson Speedway. In January 2023, as health issues arose Lorna became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson.  On September 1, 2023, Lorna passed away peacefully, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 14 days.

Lorna was an outgoing lady. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and visiting. Lorna was in the local swimming club and coffee group. She loved chatting with the ladies, and family members, and face-timed with family that did not live close by. Lorna enjoyed doing art and crafts, and trying her luck at Bingo. She had quite the collection of Angels throughout the years. Above all things, Lorna loved spending time with her family, and hosting holidays. Her philosophy was the more people the better. Lorna will be greatly missed by her family and great friends.

Left to cherish the memories of Lorna are her children: Mike (Bonnie) Nielsen of Jackson, Brad (Laura) Nielsen of Salt Lake City, Utah and Sheryl Nielsen of Jackson; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Dale (Marian) Nielsen, along with numerous extended relatives and great friends.

Lorna is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her mother Mabel; aunt Hilda Kramer; brother-in-law and sister in-law Bob and Linda York.
