Marcia Nelson

Marcia Irene Nelson, age 82, of Windom, Minnesota entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Windom Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, Minnesota with Father Pratap Reddy officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Church.

Masks are required in the church.

Marcia Irene (Graff) Nelson, daughter of Francis Graff and Mary Heindyke, was born on Monday, December 5, 1938 in Heron Lake, Minnesota. She attended Loyola Catholic School in Mankato, Minnesota and later graduated from Heron Lake Public Schools in 1954. She attended the Jackson Vocational School where she studied accounting and graduated with her CPA in 1970. Marcia was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, Minnesota.

At the age of 16, Marcia married Duane Nelson. They were blessed with six children: Nickolas, Jeffrey, Christine, Scott, Robert, and Troy. Duane passed away on January 17, 1973. Marcia later married Frank Nelson on October 31, 2000. Marcia had numerous bookkeeping jobs throughout the years, retiring from Fortune Transportation in 2002. She continued to work part time at Nepp Transportation until 2015.

Marcia was a very creative person, she loved crafting, being in her flower and vegetable gardens, canning her vegetables, baking Christmas cookies and other goodies. She was an avid card player, enjoyed reading and working puzzles. She loved music, her husband, Frank, loved to listen to her singing along with the radio. Marcia and Frank enjoyed many evenings just driving around and observing the wildlife. Above all else, Marcia was a loving and dedicated mother who cherished the time she got to spend with her children and extended family.

Marcia is survived by her husband Frank Nelson of Windom, MN; children: Jeffrey (Kelly) Nelson of Worthington, MN; Christine (Wes) Rasmussen of Windom, MN; Scott (Kelly Jo) Nelson of Hutchinson, MN, Robert (Tracy) Nelson of Moundsview, MN; Troy (Gina) Nelson of Windom, MN; two step children: Frank Nelson of Montevideo, MN; and Sarah (Chris Holmen) Schandorff Yesker of Vesta, MN; and 29 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 2 great greatgrandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marcia is preceded in death by her husband Duane Nelson; parents Francis and Mary, siblings: Francis Graff, Raymond Graff, Geraldine Winkler, Delores Garoutte, son Nickolas, daughter in law Sandra K. Nelson, granddaughter Amanda, and great granddaughters Josie and Bernice.
