Margaret Thiner, age 83, of Lakefield, Minnesota, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Sanford Sunset Cottage Hospice House. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakefield, with Father Jonathan Fasnacht officiating. Burial will take place following Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lakefield.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church and one hour prior to Mass on Monday.
Margaret Ann Thiner, daughter of Mark Peter and Palma Beatrice (Purrington) Gravley, was born on Wednesday, December 7, 1938, at home in Windom, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Margaret attended and graduated from Windom Schools in 1957. Following graduation, she worked at Schweitzer’s in Windom until marriage. Margaret was united in marriage to John Edward Thiner on May 9, 1959. After their marriage, the couple lived in rural Lakefield, and later moved into Lakefield. In 1958, Margaret joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakefield, where she has been an active member since. She was a member of LCCW, counted the weekly offerings, helped on the funeral serving committee, and helped deliver meals on wheels. On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Margaret entered into her eternal rest, at the Sanford Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
Margaret enjoyed bowling and morning coffee with the ladies. A few of her hobbies included shopping for antiques and collectibles, reading mystery books, enjoying her flowers and plants, and taking care of her pets. Margaret loved spending time with her family, going to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s events. Margaret has left behind a lifetime of memories for her family and friends to cherish.
Margaret is survived by her children: Jeff (Vicki) Thiner, Monica (David) Olson, Doug (Lynelle) Thiner and Jason (Andrea) Thiner; brother Mark Lee “Mike” (Marjoleine “Marjie”) Gravley; grandchildren: Matthew (Robyn) Thiner, Kristin (Ronall) Kyle, Katelyn (Travis) Bestge, Patrick (Andrea) Olson, Marshall (Kelly) Olson, Timothy (Lindsay) Olson, Anthony (Suzanne) Thiner, Jessica (Peter) Loeschen, Isabel (Andrew) Resler, Nathan Thiner, Arianna Harmon, Isak Harmon Thiner; great-grandchildren: Willow, Brewer, Zenrik, Deja, Graycen, Jackson, Margaret, Dorothy, Samuel, Harper, Norah, Anderson, Oakley, Watson, Mila, Aaliyah and Ryker; along with numerous other relatives and great friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband John Edward, her parents Mark Peter and Palma Beatrice, stepmother Viola, stepfather Floyd Rhone, sister, Marilyn Dahl, and brother Richard Glenn Gravley.
