Marlene Marie (Nuss) Tewes was born on February 15, 1934, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Meta (Schneider) Nuss. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Buck Creek, Iowa. After high school, she graduated from Weaver Airline School and worked for Eastern Airlines in Chicago, Illinois. There she met Robert Tewes and was united in marriage on November 6, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa. They then moved to Middletown Township in Jackson, MN and began farming.
Marlene was a faithful member at Salem Lutheran Church. Her children and grandchildren were very important to her. She liked to attend their school and 4-H activities. She loved playing cards and games, enjoyed eating ice cream, and drinking Mountain Dew. The most competitive side of her would come out in the “Love You More” war.
Marlene is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Botterill of Loveland, Colorado, and Lynn (John) Gunderson of Savage, Minnesota, her son, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Tewes of Jackson, Minnesota; 4 grandchildren, Mitch and Matt Gunderson and Meta and McKade Tewes; and 3 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Tewes of Spearfish, South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd; sister, LaDonna; husband, Robert; and son-in-law, George.
