Mary Ann Tusa, 86, formerly of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the South Shore Care facility in Worthington, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson with Father Jonathan Fasnacht officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Jackson.
Mary Ann (Cihak) Tusa, daughter of John and Mayme Cihak, was born of Sunday, September 9, 1934 in Jackson, Minnesota. Mary often talked about being 2 pounds at birth and what a miracle it was that she survived. She grew up on a farm in Jackson and was quite involved in the Jackson Saddle Club. Mary attended and graduated from Jackson High School in 1952. In 1978, Mary attended Lakes Community College and obtained her Associates degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She married her high school sweetheart Bill Dunker Jr. on October 8, 1952. They were blessed with 5 children, Michael, Julie, John, Amy, and Elizabeth. Bill passed away in 1978. Mary was united in marriage to Everett Tusa in 1986. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson. Mary Ann became a resident at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota in 2017, where she entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 4 days.
Mary had a passion for animals, specifically horses and especially her own horse Meeko. She loved to sing and could yodel to any song. Mary enjoyed reading Western Novels and collecting antiques. Mary looked forward to family vacations, camping in a popup camper with 8 people. Her most memorable vacation was to Nashville. She was a strong willed and stubborn woman but was a very loving grandmother. Mary cherished all the moments she got to spend with her family and grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by her children Julie (Norman) Giesen of Milbank, South Dakota; John (Christine) Dunker of Forney, Texas; Amy Dunker of Dubuque, Iowa and Elizabeth (Steve) Mosley of Hastings, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parent’s John and Mayme, husband Bill, second husband Everett and her son Michael Dunker.
