Michael Lee Gilmore

Mike Gilmore, age 76 of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at St. Paul Regions Hospital.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.

Michael Lee Gilmore, son of Don and Doris (Carter) Gilmore, was born on Monday, December 24, 1945, in Jackson, Minnesota. Mike attended school in Jackson. Throughout Mike’s life he worked a variety of jobs from bartending to carpentry work.  Mike has spent the last 25 years with his high school sweetheart Josephine Fertig, in the house they remodeled together in Jackson. On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Mike passed away with Jo by his side at St. Paul Regions Hospital at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

Mike enjoyed tinkering on cars, with his pride and joy being his Model A. Mike and Jo spent many years camping at the local campgrounds.  He liked woodworking from small to big projects. Mike and Jo enjoyed going to the American Legion, chatting with friends, and playing pulltabs. Mike loved his 5 cats, especially Mr. Kitty. Mike has left a lifetime of memories for his family and friends to cherish.

Mike is survived by his life partner Jo Fertig, children Kami Mendez of Odin, Minnesota, Larry (Lori) Gilmore of Jackson, Minnesota and Donald Gilmore of Alpha, Minnesota; sister Verda Garms of Jackson, Miinesota; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 4 children from previous marriages; along with many other relatives and good friends.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Don and Doris; brother Larry Gilmore, grandparents Ray (Amanda) Gilmore and Ester (Frank) Carter.
