Myrna Gene Schaffer, daughter of John and Vivian (Cordes) Van Dam, was born on December 10, 1942, in Jackson, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Okabena High School in 1960. Upon graduation, Myrna attended Worthington Junior College and obtained her secretarial certification. She moved to the cities and worked as a secretary for a few years, until moving to Heron Lake. On July 10, 1965, Myrna was united in marriage to Clayton Paul Schaffer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. Together they were blessed with 2 daughters Lori and Peggy. Myrna enjoyed gardening, canning tomatoes, and her famous dill pickles. In her younger years, she was on the women’s bowling league in Heron Lake. Myrna enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Heron Lake Community Center. She also liked to put puzzles together and play games on her iPad. Myrna was a big fan of Elvis Presley. Above all things, Myrna looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter, cherishing each and every moment spent with them. Her smile and kind heart will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
