Nancy Lee Dorschner, age 86, of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Reverend Phil Beukema officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral service at the Lakefield Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Lakefield, and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Nancy Lee Dorschner, daughter of Wilburt and Bernice (Tallman) Malchow, was born on Monday, January 27, 1936, in Lakefield, Minnesota. She was Baptized in Lakefield and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nancy attended and graduated from Lakefield School in 1954. Nancy met the love of her life Armond Dorschner at the Checkerboard dance hall. They were united in marriage on December 30, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Armond and Nancy lived their life together on her family’s farm, in Heron Lake Township. They were blessed with 5 children LaDonna, Marie, Matthew, Debora, and Bradley. Nancy worked at the Colonial Manor Nursing home and Lakefield Hospital as a nurse’s aide, and also in activities at Colonial Manor. She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, where she was an active member of the quilting group. On Saturday, May 7, 2022, Nancy passed away with her family by her side, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
Nancy was quite the outgoing lady. She enjoyed crafting of all sorts, knitting, and quilting. She was a member of the garden club in Lakefield and spent many hours in her own garden at home. In the fall she was busy picking and canning her harvest. Nancy was famous for her homemade apple pies and turn overs. Nancy loved spending time with her family and thoroughly enjoyed the golf cart joy rides on their land by Lake Flaherty. Nancy has left a lifetime of skills and memories for her family to cherish forever.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 68 years Armond; children LaDonna (Curtis) Hoffmann of Sleepy Eye, Marie (Charles) Holland of Marshall, Matthew (Marjean) Dorschner of Lakefield, Debora (friend Dean Lemickson) Dorschner of Windom, and Bradley (Tosha) Dorschner of Kalona, Iowa; grandchildren Rashelle (Trent) Weicherding, Jason Hoffmann, Kyla Hoffmann, Lance (Emily) Dorschner, Amber (Henry) Ombongi, Shane (Sarah) Dorschner, and Kristyn (Jay) Zabel; great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Carrick, and Carly Hoffmann, Elsie and Jorja Weicherding, Wyatt, Ellie, Gracelyn and Sarah Dorschner, Keyan, Tristan and Cysen Ombongi, Riley, Kevin, and Alice Dorschner; sister Phyllis Malchow-McGuire; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Wilburt and Bernice, brother Orlando Malchow, daughter in law Julie Dorschner and great granddaughter Ruby Lee Weicherding.
