Neal Alan Smith, son of John Smith and Sheila Kilen was born on July 22, 1959, in Lake City, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Belmont Lutheran Church. Neal attended and graduated from Manson High School in Manson City, Iowa. Neal was united in marriage to Bonnie in Davenport, Iowa. They were blessed with a son Joshua. This union was later dissolved.  While Neal spent most of his life in Iowa, the last couple of years he lived in Lakefield with his mother Sheila, until becoming a resident of the Hospice Cottage in Pocahontas, Iowa. Neal passed away on March 29, 2023, at the age of 63 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

Neal was an outgoing gentleman. He enjoyed riding his bike all over. He loved listening to music, with country being his favorite genre. Neal was an avid Nascar, and Minnesota Vikings fan, rarely missing watching a game or race on television. He was a wonderful cook, incorporating just the right spices to use in his entrees. Neal’s smile, and sense of adventure is greatly missed by his family and friends.

Neal is survived by his mother Sheila Sigler; father John (Chris) Smith; son Joshua Smith; brother Dale Smith; sisters Darla Calbert and Dawn Fletcher; aunts and uncles: Don (Sharon) Smith, Mary Grandon, John (Mary) Kilen, Les Rausenberger, and Hennan (Cynthia) Rost; along with numerous cousins, and extended family members.
