Richard Eggimann, age 96, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Jackson, Minnesota, entered into rest on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake. A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Osterberg Funeral Home with Pastor Norm Erickson and Pastor Kurt Trucksess. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.

Richard William Eggimann was born October 26, 1923 in Middletown Township, Jackson County, the son of William and Sophia (Guritz) Eggimann. He received his early education in Jackson County District #55 and graduated from Jackson High School in 1941.
Richard was united in marriage to Mildred A. Rieken on May 26, 1947 at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. They lived and farmed on the family farm in Middletown Township until moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 2010.
Richard was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson, and, later, the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where he served as an adult Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was a district #55 schoolboard member and a Middletown 4-H Club leader. Richard also served on the boards of the local and state Cattlemen’s Association, the Federated Rural Electric Association, the Connbelt Mutual Insurance company, and the Gideons International organization for many years.
Richard is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred of Spirit Lake; his three sons, Mark (Shirley) Eggimann of Jackson, Thomas (Kathleen) Eggimann of Hutchinson, Peter (Kim) of Hastings; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, William and Sophia, brother Raymond and his wife Irene, sister Alice and her husband Carl Lehman, two infant brothers, and an infant sister.
