Richard Raymond Schroeder

Richard Raymond Schroeder, age 73, of Windom, Minnesota was called home on June 25, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, Minnesota. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, with Pastor John Schuetz officiating. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Jackson American Legion Post #130. Public is welcome to attend.

Richard Raymond Schroeder, son of Raymond and Laila (Bunny) Schroeder, was born on Tuesday, September 23, 1947, in Jackson, Minnesota. He spent his childhood in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1965. Richard attended college in Iowa and Minnesota. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1974-1978 on the USS Mount Whitney. He was fire chief while he was on board. Richard was able to travel the world while on duty. In July of 2018, Richard became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Windom, where he was called home to join his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

During Richards’s early years he enjoyed college football, hunting and car racing. Later in life, Richard enjoyed driving around the state on day trips, with no destination in mind. He enjoyed visiting family for the holidays, and meeting friends for coffee and good conversation.

Richard is survived by his beautiful daughters Doreen Cottrell and Tracy Grauel; four grandchildren; his brother Bill Schroeder; his sisters Sandy Korba, Kathy Schroeder, Becky (Joseph) Neisen, and Mary (Rick) Birnsthil; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Laila (Bunny), brother Thomas Schroeder and nephew Scott Korba.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Windom for their patience and care that they provided for Richard.
