Rick Nesmoe

Rick Nesmoe, age 65 of Jackson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Sanford Jackson Medical Center.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Jackson Golf Club.

Rick Allen Nesmoe, son of Dale and Esther (Salsbury) Nesmoe was born on Monday, October 14, 1957, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Jackson High School in 1976. He then attended vocational college in Jackson. After school, Rick worked at Ag Chem in Jackson for 21 years. In 1979, Rick married Eileen McDonald on November 16, 1979 in Jackson. Together they raised their 3 daughters Holly, Stacy, and Kelly. He remained in Jackson after he left Ag Chem and went to work for Erickson Truck Sales and Salvage for 3 years. Following his time at Erickson’s he moved to St. Cloud where he worked at Creative Memories for 10 years. In 2012, Rick came back to Jackson to work at Behne Inc. in Sherburn, MN. On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Rick passed away at Sanford Jackson Medical Center at the age of 65 years, 5 months, and 15 days.

Being back in Jackson allowed him to spend more time with his family. His children and grandchildren enjoyed swinging by Rick’s whenever they were in town. Whether they were all just sitting outside watching the kids learn to ride bikes, in the basement racing slot cars, or just hanging around the fish, it was nice to be together.

Throughout his life, there was one constant; Rick always enjoyed listening to great music. Regardless of what he was up to, inside or out, there was always good old, classic rock playing nearby. When mother nature would allow, you would find him outside enjoying one of his many hobbies, including canoeing, camping, watching a good fireworks show, and going to watch drag races. Rick was a member of the golf club in Jackson for many years, where he played golf with the like of Jim Wohlers, Doug Place, and the late, great Randy Polz. And yes, he had a radio in his golf cart, as he believed it helped with his concentration. He also enjoyed going out to the gun range to hang out with his gun club buddies. They spent countless summer evenings target shooting, shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays. While Rick was at home, you were apt to find him tinkering in the garage or making killer track designs for his slot car race cars.

Left to cherish the memories of Rick are his daughters Holly Beaty of Sioux Falls, SD, Stacy Kies of Sioux Rapids, IA and Kelly Osterberg of Eden Prairie, MN; 4 grandchildren; mother Esther Nesmoe; brothers: Mike (Maridan) Nesmoe, Scott (Linda) Nesmoe, and Kim Nesmoe, ex-wife Eileen Nesmoe along with many great friends.

Rick is preceded in death by his father Dale, brothers Troy and Wayne Nesmoe, and sister-in-law Kim Nesmoe.
