Roger Lee Johnson

Roger L. Johnson, age 69, of Jackson, passed away on Friday, October 27,2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. Christoper Roberts will be officiating the service. Visitation will follow from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged.

Roger Lee Johnson, son of Darrell Johnson and Delores (Smith) Klatt, was born on August 9, 1954, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Baptist Church in Webb, Iowa. Roger attended and graduated from Clay County Central High School in Webb. In 1991, Roger moved to Jackson. He was united in marriage to Lynette Johnson on November 14, 1993, at the Methodist Church in Jackson. Together Roger and Lynette raised 5 children Brady, Kody, Dacia, Brekka, and Krista. Throughout Roger’s life he worked at the Sale Barn in Jackson, helped with farm work, and for the past 28 years he drove truck for Elness Livestock in Lakefield. On Friday, October 27, 2023, Roger passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 69.

Roger was a very hardworking and dependable gentleman. He was passionate about horses, enjoyed horseback riding, and raced in the Chuckwagon races at the Spencer Fair. Roger had quite the collection of Budweiser memorabilia, including many beer steins. During his down time, Roger enjoyed watching TV, with some of his favorites being Heartland, Yellowstone, the Hallmark movies, sports, and any program that had to do with horses. He was an avid Minnesota Twins, and Vikings fan. Roger will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Roger is survived by wife Lynette Johnson: sons: Brady (Mackayla) Kaderabek of Jackson; and Kody Johnson of Jackson; daughters: Dacia Kaderabek of Spencer, Iowa, Brekka Kaderabek of Jackson, and Krista (Geoff Osterberg) Johnson of Jackson; his mother Delores Klatt;7 grandchildren; nephews Shannon Johnson, Dustin Klatt, and Jamie Klatt.  and sister Vicky Sorenson of Bemidji, step-sister Karla Markley and her family T.J., Bryan and Hope,  along with many great friends.

Roger is preceded in death by his father Roger Johnson, his grandparents and sister Cathy Johnson.
