Terrance Curtis Balling Sr.

Terrance Balling Sr., 62 of Lakefield, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the Sanford Jackson Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakefield with Father Pratap Reddy officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at the church on Thursday. Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lakefield will be immediately following mass.

Masks are required to be worn inside of the Church.

Terrance Curtis Balling Sr., son of Curtis and Geraldine (Collins) Balling, was born on Friday, December 12, 1958 in Lakefield, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakefield. Terrance attended Lakefield Public School and graduated in 1977. He attended Jackson Vocational and Technical School in Jackson to obtain his Electrical degree. Terrance was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Lori Sirovy on September 2, 1978, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. They were blessed with two children Terrance Jr, and Lacey. Terrance and Lori lived in various homes in the Lakefield area. Terrance remained in Lakefield with his family, after Lori’s unexpected passing in 2003. Terrance worked as an apprenticeship for electrician for his father Curtis’s business, Balling Electric.  In 1989, he went to work as a welder for ACGO, working his was to being the master maintenance technician until his retirement in March of 2019. Upon retirement, Terrance began working on his home, and spending time with his family. Terrance Sr. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the Sanford Jackson Medical Center at the age of 62 years, and 21 days.

Terrance Sr. was an intelligent and inquisitive gentleman. He was electronically and mechanically inclined. Terrance was an avid collector of old radios, televisions and farm hit and miss motors, intrigued to take them apart and work on them to get them running properly. Recently he rekindled his passion for robotics.  Terrance was always tinkering around in his garage/shop if he was not busy working on his house. During the summer months, he enjoyed camping with his family. Terrance adored his grandchildren and loved spending as much time with them as he could. His passion for taking things apart has been passed down to his kids, and grandchildren. Terrance has left a lifetime of memories for his family to cherish.

Terrance Sr. is survived by his children Terrance Jr. (Cally) Balling of Lakefield, and Lacey (Troy) Schmidtke of Trimont; grandchildren Tayven, Grayson, Kenzie and Teya; brother Daniel Balling, sister Janine Balling, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Terrance Sr. is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Lori, and his parents Curtis and Geraldine.
