Wayne Otto Grams passed from this earth to eternal life, joining his God and Savior early Friday morning on October 23, 2020. He was born on March 2,1931, in Windom, Minnesota, the son of Otto and Benda(Kaushagen) Grams. Wayne married Meridith(Rossow) on February 11,1951.

Wayne lived almost all his 89 years in Windom.  Early in Wayne and Meridith’s marriage, they traveled out west, working odd jobs as they headed to California.  During his years as a Marine, they were stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California.

For the greater part of the last 50 years, he was involved in trucking.  He worked for Sunderman Transfer before joining Fortune Transportation Company as an owner/operator in 1988.  In 2001 he became the 20th driver to log one million miles.

Wayne’s love of golf started in 1977 at the age of 46.  He stepped onto a course in Texas and fell in love with the game.  Another love of Wayne’s was fishing.  Big fishing events were Pierre, South Dakota in the 60s, several trips to Canada, and most recently an adventure to Devil’s Lake in North Dakota.  He was also eager to take grandkids fishing in any nearby lake or river.  Playing cards in the Grams’ house was a given.  Card Club was never missed. When family gathered, a game or two was played.  In these last years, Wayne would go to the Senior Center and play with the men.  There were also trips to Jackpot.  Wayne’s love of family was expressed by his interaction with all his children and grandchildren scattered in different states:  California, Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Nevada.  There were few big events that were not attended.  He loved being able to see them participate in sporting events especially.

Wayne was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior since 1951.  He was involved in the Sunday School and youth group in the early 60s and 70s.  He regularly attended Bible class and worship.  His consistent faith, his love of family, and his work ethic influenced his interactions with all of his family.

Wayne was preceded in death by his brother Neil Grams and sisters Bernice Harrington, Lorraine Peters, Eunice Harrington, and his son Michael Grams. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Meridith, sons Bruce Grams (Elizabeth), Jon Grams(Deb), daughter Michell Porisch, 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren and his brother Willard Grams.

Blessed be the memory of Wayne Otto Grams.
