Wilma Marie Lohn, daughter of James and Christina (Zordrager) Buchman was born on Saturday, March 6, 1937, in Harris, Iowa. She was baptized in the Baptist faith by a traveling Baptist church that routinely traveled to Lake Park. Wilma attended and graduated as valedictorian from Excelsior School in Excelsior Township, Iowa.  After graduation, Wilma moved to Lakefield. Wilma was an active member of the United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir, member of the United Methodist Women and helped with janitorial needs. She worked a variety of job roles in Lakefield, at Melody Corners, Land O Lakes Egg Division, Bob’s Cleaners, and Ellseth Eggs, her main focus and career was seamstress work. Wilma was united in marriage to Roger Beam on November 11, 1961. While this marriage was later dissolved, they were blessed with 3 children Gaylin, Timothy, and Denise. While the children were growing up, Wilma worked as a seamstress from home, sewing garments, cheerleading uniforms, and uniforms for the waitresses at the local golf course. On April 6, 1986 Wilma married Bruce Lohn at the United Methodist Church in Lakefield. Together they moved to Hayfield to run Bruce’s family’s grocery store and bakery, where Wilma played an important role in the bakery. The grocery store later was sold. Bruce and Wilma moved to Branson West, Missouri. Wilma was quite active in the Kimberly City Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, and was involved in the organization of mission trips to Texas and New Mexico. Bruce passed away on January 13th 2005. Upon Bruce’s passing, Wilma stayed living in Missouri, until 2017, when she moved back to Lakefield to be closer to her family. On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, Wilma was joined by her Lord and Savior, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 24 days.

Wilma was a lady of many talents. Wilma loved to sing. She was involved in the community choir in Lakefield, and also served as a Girl Scout leader. Wilma had a passion for sewing and crafts, including needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, and in her later years quilting. During the summer months, she spent many hours in her garden, and in the fall canning her fruitful harvest. Wilma was a wonderful baker, making all sorts of goodies for everyone to enjoy. She had an excellent sense of humor, enjoyed joking around, and making random wise cracks when others weren’t expecting it. Above all, Wilma loved spending time with her family, cherishing each and every moment that she was with them. Wilma will be greatly missed by all that were close to her.

Wilma is survived by her children, Gaylin Beam of Benson, Timothy Beam of Lakefield and Denise (Keith) Nichols of Lakefield; grandchildren Brandon (Laurie) Nichols of Lakefield, and Brian (Rizza) Nichols of Syracuse, Utah; great grandchildren Paige, Drew, Leah, Joseph, and Mason; sisters Doris Alfke and Mary Lou Thaemlitz; brothers Delbert (Gloria) Buchman and Ronnie (Diane) Buchman; stepchildren Duane, Wendy, Cherri, Neal, Jason, and Peggy; along with numerous other relatives.
